The Divas in Beijing concerts comprise of five performances featuring the world’s leading opera stars to be held in Beijing during the first week of the upcoming Olympic Games.
The concerts feature Renee Fleming, Angela Gheorghiu and Sumi Jo, with special guests including the ‘next generation Three Tenors’ – Marcello Giordani, Salvatore Licitra and Ramon Vargas – plus baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky and tenor Jonas Kaufmann.
Never before have operatic superstars of this calibre come together in a concert series of such magnitude and global cultural significance.
The concerts will be held in the National Grand Theatre, Beijing’s most prestigious venue for the performing arts, and the Great Hall off the People, the iconic home of the Congress of the Peoples Republic of China.
The concerts are officially part of the “Meet in Beijing 2008 Olympic Culture Events” organised by the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China.
This concert series is unquestionably the cultural highlight of the 2008 Olympic Games.
